New trend in floor lighting...
Eyeleds® floor lighting based on LED technology is unique in the world of lighting. The minimal build-in depth of 6.5 mm means that the floor lighting can easily be installed in carpet, laminate flooring, decorative gravel, wood and design floors. For professionals it offers the unique possibility of installing a floor-lighting system that does not have to conform to conventional standards. LED technology is safe and economical. It comes in white, blue and amber light colors that can be set in brushed metal or brass.
What is LED lighting?
LED stands for Light Emitting Diode. Rather than being generated by an incandescent filament (which can break), light is emitted by electroluminescence. This means that photons (particles of light) are released when electrons change energy level as they pass through the semiconductor material (the diode). Because there is no infrared, more energy is converted into light. In the case of a normal light bulb, more than 90% of the energy that passes through the filament is converted into heat (infrared radiation).
All kinds of possibilities...
Lighting installed in a floor has to be water resistant. Among other things, the IP value for lighting expresses the degree of water resistance. Eyeleds® are highly water resistant but should not be installed under water or in areas that are likely to be submerged for long periods. They can be installed next to a shower or a bath, but they cannot be installed in the bath or in an aquarium for example!
When developing Eyeleds® ease of installation was considered to be an important principle. As a result, the system is not something that can only be used by professionals. It can also be successfully installed by anyone who is good with their hands. A clearly written manual, with many illustrations that lead you through the installation procedure step by step, helps to ensure that the floor lighting is easy to install. If you use Eyeleds® built-in leads, the connection of the leads to the lighting circuit is the only thing that has to be done by a registered electrician.
Decorative lighting...
Eyeleds® is a new use of lighting as a decorative feature that helps to create atmosphere while also serving as safety or orientation lighting in floors. The built-in lights look like eyes (hence the name Eyeleds®). This use of lighting is the first step towards lighting a room with LED. Because of its considerable advantages – low energy consumption and a very long life span – LED lighting will gradually replace conventional light bulbs in all kinds of (new) lighting applications. Eyeleds® anticipates this trend by turning innovative LED lighting into attractive new products.
Cheap lighting...
Eyeleds® have a power rating of just 0.3 watts. If you left the light on day and night it would cost approximately ¿ 0.50 per year! Yet the light output of LED lighting is very high at 20 lumen per watt. (By way of comparison, a 15 watt light bulb has a light output 6 lumen per watt.) The Eyeleds® light output of 6 lumen is ideal for decorative lighting and orientation lighting. On average the LED will shine for 100,000 hours! In the case of LED lighting the light source does not fail from one moment to the next: the intensity of the light gradually diminishes. Yet various tests have shown that even after 3 years there is no visible difference between a used light and an unused light.
Possibilities for the future...
Eyeleds® keeps innovating. In the future Eyeleds® will bring out LED lighting in new shapes, sizes and colors. In the foreseeable future the range will be expanded with the addition of products based on 'power LED' technology. The very high light output of 'power LED' is leading developers to explore the possibilities of 'functional' LED lighting and LED room lighting that will make it possible to take advantage of the low energy consumption and very long life span of LED!
