Suntube squeezes more out natural daylight |
Leading roof lights manufacturer Cox Building Products has announced the arrival of a new generation of natural daylight technology.
Suntube is the newest innovation from the company which predicts it will open new markets for suppliers looking to meet the growing demand for natural light inside buildings.
It is now an accepted fact that natural daylight plays a key role in our physical and mental well-being. Research cited by the National Association of Rooflight Manufacturers (NARM) shows that people living, studying and working in buildings with high levels of natural light perform better and even recover from illness at a faster rate.
Suntube boasts all the benefits offered by its predecessor, Skytube, a revolutionary way of reflecting natural daylight into rooms and areas which daylight from windows fails to reach.
Now those benefits are being channelled into more traditional markets, since special kits enable Suntube to cater for a wider range of roof designs, including pitch applications of more than 30 degrees and even bold rolled tile applications.

The key to the system is a 9 inch tube transmitting up to 50 per cent more light than comparable products. By using highly reflective silver technology, it is capable of lighting up an area of up to 80 sq ft to natural daylight level.
Light is reflected through a 9 inch diameter super-reflective tube which can be extended via a limitless number of adjustable elbows to deliver free outdoor light to any room or area below - even on cloudy days. Light is diffused evenly by a translucent ceiling fixture.
A sealed column of air eliminates the risk of heat loss in winter and solar gain in summer months. Once fitted, the Suntube is maintenance-free since it is self cleaning and condensation-proof.
Normally fitted within two to three hours, a standard Suntube kit is suitable for a roof pitch of up to 30 degrees and roofing tiles up to 35mm deep. A special kit featuring a three-section elbow extends the range to cater for roofs of up to 45 degrees pitch and a lead upstand version caters for tiles of more than 35mm depth.
A full range of Suntube accessories, including chrome and brass effect ceiling trims, an integral light kit and vandal-resistant screws, has also been developed.
As an aid to sales, Cox has developed special POS material for the Suntube, in the form of a brochure, A3 showcard and kit holder for easy counter top display. For further details or to order POS material contact Cox on 01902 371800 or email sales@coxdome.co.uk.
