Architen Landrell are delighted to have been given the contract for designing, manufacturing and installing the fabric panels for the Beckham Football Academy now under construction in Greenwich. The site is on the riverbank right next to the Dome and is an exciting and high-profile project, associated with one of the biggest names in sport.
There are three structures ranging in size from huge to really huge. The Pavilion building is 19m wide and 120m long, and houses a full range of offices, lecture rooms, changing and catering facitilities. As well as the fabric roof/wall panels we are also supplying insulating ceiling panels for the whole structure – a field in which we are quietly establishing ourselves as a clear leader.
The pavilion building is impressive, but it will be dwarfed by the two pitch cover buildings standing next to it. Each one is almost 110m long with a clear width of 72m and a ridge height of 19m.
