Cavitray Selected for Netherlands Building Programme. | 2 May 2006 |
UK manufacturer Cavity Trays Ltd has been selected to supply cavitrays for a number of major housing schemes in the Netherlands.
A damp proof course system was required for the horizontal abutments and changes in level. With a cavity width that varied from 75mm to 120mm and an inside skin which in some areas was cast concrete, the specification demanded a system capable of accommodating such width changes and which would always be compatible with the inside skin finish. An external lead flashing was also required, together with a means of ensuring the flashing and damp course united in a watertight union.
The upgraded Type G cavitray from Cavity Trays of Yeovil was selected. The Type G was supplied with an attached lead flashing that meant the important flashing union was already factory sealed and watertight. It also meant the elimination of the arduous site operation of fitting a separate flashing. The Type G was supplied in preformed lengths with integral stopends and connections that coincided with masonry perp joints. The upstand of each Type G cavitray adjusted to suit the cavity width encountered, and being self-supporting it did not require building into the inner leaf. (see photograph).
Type G cavitrays are available with or without an attached lead flashing. The tray can be used in cavity widths from 50mm up to 150mm. Cavity Trays of Yeovil brand each cavitray with their horse logo, which indicates the cavitray is subject to Cavity Trays Performance Warranty, which provides a schedule of protection for the benefit of Architect, Builder and Client.
