Zenitel Delivers the First Private TETRA Network in Belgium |
Last summer, Zenitel was approached by Siemens to collaborate on a very ambitious project, the set-up of what would prove to be the first private TETRA network in Belgium.
The site is a factory plant in west Belgium. It would later become an integrated site incorporating all of the different forms of communication offered by Siemens: telephony, DECT, intercom and more. The customer is CARINOX, a very famous producer of inox stainless steel based in Chatelet (French speaking part of Belgium) and part of the Arcelor Group.
The project was realized in a very short time, just six weeks. This was the time left before the official inauguration of the factory where the complete infrastructure needed to be operational to guarantee a life saving, efficient and secure radio communication on the plant. Communication is key when it comes to protecting the lives of the employees and workers at this steel producing company. Every move and handling task contains possible risks and only reliable communication assures immediate sharing of necessary information.
Since installation, the functionalities of the Motorola MTH800 terminals such as group calls, emergency calls, status confirmation and comfortable use have been found to be most useful and are strongly appreciated by the users. In this project, the terminals are integrated in a PABX-central to be used both as GSM and radio with full duplex.
Today more than 170 people are using the Zenitel TETRA Node/TETRA base with three carriers providing complete coverage of the total plant without requiring extra relay stations. Once again, Zenitel shows its professionalism as a pioneer in the deployment of the first private TETRA network in Belgium. Zenitel would like to thank Siemens and the Arcelor Group for its confidence and an enjoyable collaboration.
