    Gateway Guildford

Space Airconditioning plc has supplied A Daikin Heat Recovery R410A VRV system to J&B Hopkins for a new office development called "Gateway Guildford"

The project commissioned by Dungate Property Group is a 17,500 square ft development which provides the only new office space available in Guildford. The building was designed to be let as a whole or in suites from 3,000 square ft.

Geoff Hunt, Project Manager for J&B Hopkins of Park Gate explains "this was a fast track project completed in 8 months from first footings. The main contractor, Bluestone of Southampton, asked us to design all the mechanical services for the building including the air conditioning. The client required air conditioning that was energy efficient so it was decided to design the system around the Daikin Heat Recovery VRV, as this was potentially the most energy efficient equipment available. Originally it was suggested that extraction fans were installed but the final design included the Daikin Heat Recovery Ventilation, which further added to the energy efficiency of the system.

We also decided to incorporate the Daikin I-Manager which would enable the end user to control the system accurately further increasing energy savings."

Geoff concluded, "As the project was a speculative development it was necessary for the indoor units to be installed in a way that would allow for the building to be split into four sections. The system also needed to be flexible enough to allow for private offices if required.

In total 36 (FXSQ) ceiling void-ducted units were connected to 2 REYQ10 and 2 REYQ20 condensers. The heat recovery ventilation consisted of 10 VAM800 units.
