Public Sector Takes Eco Heating For Granted With Dimplex | 14 Dec 2006 |
Dimplex is helping the public sector to reduce its carbon footprint following this week's announcement that the UK electric space and water heating market leader has been appointed as an approved supplier of ground source heat pumps under Phase 2 of the DTI's Low Carbon Buildings Programme, one of only seven suppliers across a range of low carbon solutions.
The second phase of the LCBP will provide £50 million in grants over the next 18 months to help fund the installation of ground source heat pumps and other microgeneration technologies for schools, public sector and not-for-profit buildings, as well as local authority and housing association housing projects.
Calling for applications, the Secretary of State for Trade and Industry Alistair Darling commented, "It is vital that we cut the CO2 emissions from our buildings if we are to reach the UK's 60% reduction target by 2050. Combining energy efficiency measures with the fitting of microgeneration technologies on schools and other public sector buildings can and will make a real difference."
The grants provide subsidies of 35% of the total purchase and installation cost of ground source heat pumps. Dimplex, through its national network of ClearSkies approved Heat Pump Installer Partners, provides a complete service from heating system design and installation to commissioning and after sales support.
The range of Dimplex products available under the programme includes single phase ground source heat pumps from 5-14kW suitable for domestic applications as well as larger capacity models from 17 – 50kW suitable for schools and other non-domestic buildings.
