Artificial Grass Playgrounds | 19 Jan 2007 |
Constructing a children's play area which offers a robust surface is an important aspect of SSP services. We can now boast artificial grass playgrounds which are still in constant use fourteen years after installation. We use excellent materials and experienced installers to produce soft and friendly areas for small children to fall on.
At the base of our playgrounds is a compacted sand base, or preferably a Type 1 MOT stone base. The system of impact matting and artificial grass that is installed above the base mimics the ground beneath it, so it is imperative that the base is compacted and smooth.
The impact matting, called ProPlay, consists of heat bonded polyethylene foam recycled from car manufacture. No glues are used making the product is environmentally friendly. The matting gives shock absorbency and efficient drainage (the same product is used on landfill sites to allow water and gas drainage).
On top of the impact matting high quality artificial grass is installed, with a pile height of at least 24mm. The grass is filled to just beneath the surface with kiln-dried sand which supports the pile and helps with drainage.
Maintenance consists of removing large pieces of debris, and brushing the surface.
