Dragon turns up heat | 28 Feb 2007 |
Staff at Noberne are keeping warm this winter thanks to their recycling efforts. The introduction of a new extraction and waste incineration system within the factory enables the wood shavings from the manufacturing process to be burned in an on-site furnace. The heat from the furnace is then used to heat the building.
Larger off cuts of wood are mulched in the 'dragon' machine before going into the furnace to be transformed into energy and heat.
Other 'green' initiatives include the recycling of waste paper, bottles, cans and newspapers. Larger items of waste are taken to a recycling centre and this only amounts to around one or two skips per month.
Managing director Jonathan Agar says: "We recycle around 85 per cent of all our waste, and we are very proud of this achievement. We are always looking at new ways in which we can help the environment and ensure that our business has a low impact on the world's resources.
