Fabric Architecture Create Unusual Horseshoe conic structure at Chandlers Wharf | 28 Feb 2007 | Over two years in the making, this unusual "Horseshoe Conic" structure in the courtyard of the Chandlers Wharf development creates a stunning focal point for residents.
A glulam timber mast was chosen as the central support, finished with brushed stainless steel fabric connections and architectural rigging hardware. Painted steel tripods provide perimeter anchor points for the fabric membrane with stainless cables maintaining tension around the edge of the canopy.
The courtyard is the roof of a gound floor car park serving the new flats. Steelwork fixing plates were pre-engineered and integrated into the steel sub-structure of the courtyard floor, allowing paving slabs to be laid prior to our installation.

Location: Chandlers Wharf, Liverpool
Architects: Falconer Chester Architects
Contractor: Armor Construction
Structure: Asymmetric Horsehose Conic, Glulam mast, mild steel tripods, stainless steel rigging & fixings
Fabric: 10TL Solar Glass Weave
