Kronospan Keeps it Quiet | 17 May 2007 |
Kronospan has launched its quietest ever range of laminate flooring, which reduces sound by 50%. The Sound Absorption System (SAS+) has been incorporated into the premium flooring ranges to offer the highest quality laminate flooring.
SAS+ incorporates a thermoplastic coating and a 3mm noise-absorbing fibre mat, which together reduce reflected sound by 50% and transmitted sound by 30% by both absorbing noise and by converting sound energy into heat energy. The result is a quieter sound which also becomes deeper and more pleasant to the ear.
The bonded wood fibre mat removes the need for additional underlays, reducing both cost and time taken to lay. Tests have also proven that the sound absorption range is ideal for areas with underfloor heating due to the high levels of heat transference.
The original SAS range outperformed 10 other laminates when tested in the Stiftung Warentest poll (the German Consumer Goods Testing Association), producing the highest levels of reflected sound absorption, and demonstrated the greatest impact stability and best heat conductivity. The revised SAS+ has been improved further by also reducing the level of transmitted sound.
Furthermore, an additional layer included directly below the décor creates an anti-static finish to provide complete protection against shocks. The lack of static makes the boards easier to clean as dirt is repelled from the surface.
The SAS+ system is incorporated into the Krono Original portfolio which is the result of a collaboration of Kronoflooring's UK team in Chirk and their German-based counterparts. The portfolio includes six sub-ranges: Floordreams, Kronofix, Castello, the Vario 'V-groove', Stoneline and Kronoclic.
