Timber Building Goes Live | 10 Jul 2007 |
ARCHITECTS, SPECIFIERS, HOUSEBUILDERS, property developers, timber frame suppliers: in fact, anyone interested in wood's use in the built environment will want to bookmark Timber Building's new website www.timber-building.com. The Timber Building team has spent recent months developing the content for this new resource, which editor Mike Jeffree believes will prove a must-visit destination for anyone who wants up-to-date news on timber's use in construction. "While committed to continuing to produce our quality quarterly magazine, we realised we needed to develop in line with the growth in activity and innovation in the timber and timber construction market," said Jeffree. "It's an increasingly fast-paced news environment and we felt the only way for us and our readers to stay abreast of all the market developments was to launch a new web-site that would provide all the current stories in the thriving timber frame and broader wood-based construction industries.
"Regular readers of Timber Building will know we already cover a wide range of latest innovative projects across the UK and abroad," he added. "The website will enable us to provide background and technical details on many more of the latest developments and deliver more news more frequently. "Like the magazine, the website will also feature a whole host of other material. Environmental issues relating to the timber and timber construction sector will be a staple of the site and, like the magazine, it will also include in-depth technical articles provided by Timber Building's consultant TRADA. The website will have a searchable archive of Timber Building's back issues (as this issue of Timber Building went to press, the archive was still being updated). Making it an even more invaluable tool to the building professional, specifier and end customer, www.timber-building.com also has a link to sister title Timber Trades Journal's directory of suppliers, enabling visitors to find specific products from the best and most convenient sources. This facility can be accessed by clicking on the Timber Directory navigation button on the left of the website. The directory can be searched by product or supplier and many entries specify if companies stock certified timber and wood products. It has a total of 3,000 company entries and 5,000 individual product listings. www.timber-building.com will also be interactive, featuring polls on industry issues as well as providing details of upcoming events featuring timber and timber frame, such as The Wood Awards, the TTJ Timber Industry Awards, the Timber Zone at Interbuild and next year's Ecobuild Timber Show. Website content will be updated on a weekly basis, while visitors can also sign up for regular e-mail alerts. There is also a subscription page for Timber Building magazine.
