    Polished granite scores with Dons

Lignacite Ltd supplied 2,500 square metres of granite-faced blocks for phase one of the MK Dons Stadium in Milton Keynes.

The vision of the stadium has been driven by the client – MK Dons' Chairman, Peter Winkelman – who selected Lignacite's Midnight Granite range as the most appropriate medium for the stadium. The highly reflective finish is striking as well as being low-maintenance – an important point to consider on something the size of the stadium.

'The granite-faced blocks were the best choice to fit the vision of the architect and the client,' said Oran McCloskey of Buckingham Group Contracting Ltd, the main contractor on the project.

The blocks provide all the beneifts of granite in terms of aesthetics and durability, but are more cost effective as only a thin slip of granite is used. They have been tested for extreme weather conditions as well as fire.
