Hodgson & Hodgson has carried out an acoustic makeover at the London centre of personal training and development specialists The Mind Gym. Poor acoustics in the main training room were making it difficult for Mind Gym instructors to deliver effective training sessions. Hodgson and Hodgson was asked to provide its acoustic consultancy service and come up with a remedial solution.
The Mind Gym takes a very different approach to transforming people's behaviour at work and it's an approach that has delivered results like no other. Excellent training facilities are a crucial part of the company’s success and its large training delivery room was letting it down. With hard flooring and bare walls, the room’s acoustics were poor, echoes excessive and clarity of speech impossible. The company chose Hodgson & Hodgson to provide a solution because of its reputation as a market leader with a comprehensive range of acoustic products.
Hodgson & Hodgson fitted 50mm thick TufSound P panels from floor to ceiling on one wall of the training room. The panels were finished in white to match the existing décor. TufSound is a decorative acoustic wall and ceiling treatment which absorbs airborne noise and reduces reverberation within a room. Designed for areas where a contemporary feel and a softer acoustic environment is required, it is also suitable for use as a tough, functional wall panelling. TufSound P panels are manufactured from galvanised perforated steel with a sound-absorbing mineral wool infill. Perforated steel panels provide a higher level of impact resistance and a cleanable surface finish.
Ben Oxnam, Head of Operations at The Mind Gym, confirms the success of the installation. He says, “The reverberation in this training room had been making it very difficult for speakers to be clearly heard. Hodgson & Hodgson came up with an effective solution which has made a significant difference to the room’s acoustics.” He adds, “Because we use the facility daily, the panels had to be installed quickly. Hodgson & Hodgson completed the installation in just one day, causing the minimum amount of disruption to our training programme. We’re delighted.”
