Safety First New Build Primary School in Co Durham is supplied with Safety flooring from Tarkett Marley Floors | 5 Nov 2007 |
St Johns Primary School, a new build school in Sheldon, Co Durham opened its doors this year complete with Tarkett Marley Floors safety floors fitted throughout all the wet areas.
Barry Wilkinson, Director of Proctor Flooring Ltd said, Tarketts floor coverings were specified for the project because they offer a good selection of colours suitable for the school environment. The safety ranges also perform to a high standard which met the clients requirement. They also offer good value for money and from a contractors point of view they are very easy to work with.
Tarketts Granit Multisafe is a highly proven studded safety floorcovering and so it was the first choice for the disabled toilet, an area in the school where safety is of paramount importance. Granit Multisafe has been specially designed to offer optimum safety underfoot in wet areas, with a construction that provides a good grip for feet. The dense, impermeable surface and the well-rounded studs also mean Granit Multisafe is hygienic and easy to clean.
In the childrens and staff toilets and in the wet areas around the sinks in each classroom Safetred Spectrum PU was installed. In these areas it was important to have a heavy duty slip resistant flooring which was attractive and complemented the décor of the classroom and surrounding floorcovering. Recommended for use in heavy traffic areas, Safetred Spectrum PU is a slip resistant, heavy-duty decorative chip effect floorcovering with PU protection, which is available in a choice of 20 contemporary colours.
In addition to a 10-year guarantee, the flooring also has good environmental credentials as it contains 25% recycled material, thus reducing the depletion of virgin raw materials in manufacture and the lower ongoing maintenance requirements resulting from the PU protection reduces energy, water and detergent consumption.
