DEVI is now supplying the Danfoss Heat Pump Range | 17 Dec 2007 |
By using the geothermal energy stored in the ground the new Danfoss ground source heat pumps from DEVI, provide highly effective heating, domestic hot water and a passive cooling function while halving energy costs in comparison to existing domestic boiler systems.
Various types of heat pump exist but ground source systems are the most efficient of all. They rely on two methods of collecting the energy, the first being the use of a long loop of hose which is dug down to approximately one metre and coiled horizontally beneath the surface. This is an ideal solution for a site where there is available space for this technology to be buried. Alternatively, a borehole method of drilling down to around 100 metres combats the problem where space is at a premium. A brine mixture which does not freeze is then pumped through the hose which collects the warmth from the ground and, based on a similar principle to that used in refrigerators, the pumps technology compresses this to 50-60°C to provide both heating and domestic hot water for the home.
Heat pumps have been developed for more than three decades and offer a sustainable and environmentally-friendly form of heating as they use renewable energy and produce no emissions. They can operate both with wet underfloor and modern radiator heating systems.
In order to optimise performance and ensure maximum energy and cost savings are achieved, DEVI only distributes the Danfoss heat pump range through its nationwide network of renewable energy partners who are fully trained and have the expertise and relevant software to offer turnkey solutions.
