New £12m Leisure Facility For Wolverhampton Complete With Rockfon Acoustic Solutions | 12 Feb 2008 |
An impressive £12m leisure complex has been developed to provide a fantastic range of sports and activities for all sections of the Wolverhampton community, complete with 650m2 of Rockfon acoustic wall linings. State of the art sporting facilities have been installed so it is important that the built environment also offers the highest possible performance.
The new complex, which has been developed in partnership with Wolverhampton City Council and DC Leisure Management Ltd, offers a variety of facilities including a 25m six lane swimming pool, wave pool, river run, water slides and bubble pool and a parent and baby pool. There are also two steam rooms and two saunas alongside a large fitness suite and dance studio. The new studio pool, used for swimming lessons, employs the very latest technology enabling the depth of the pool to be adjusted to suit the age of the swimmers.
Jim Phillips, Operations Manager at the new centre commented: “We are delighted with the installation of Rockfon’s acoustic wall linings around the swimming pools. The choice of colour enabled us to blend essential acoustic performance and moisture resistance without compromising on the overall design of the pool areas.”

The colour chosen at Wolverhampton was Oasis, which provides 62% diffuse light reflection - a key consideration in areas with swimming pools or water features. Importantly Rockfon is one of the main ceiling and acoustic systems suppliers to provide enhanced corrosion resistant RockLink grids, which ensure superior longevity in the chemically laden environment of swimming and leisure pools.
