Flexible
plumbing allows the installer to 'cable' pipework in much the same
way as electrical cable, eliminating unnecessary fittings. As no
solvents are used in jointing, the system can be tested as soon
as the installation is finished.
A key advantage is that the use of flexible pipe enables joists
to be drilled, and pipework cabled through, rather that notched.
This means the pipework does not have to be installed prior to floorboards
being laid. In turn, this makes for safer working and allows exact
positioning of pipework. It also eliminates the risk of pipes being
punctured by the nails used to fix floorboards.
The
same feature often enables the installer
to complete the 'first' and 'second' fix in one visit rather than
two, with attendant time and cost savings.
