Loft Ladders works from clients' requirements - producing one-off designs to fulfill those requirements within space constraints, then adapting or utilising their wide range of standard loft ladders.
The company recommends that its experience and expertise of over 65 years are drawn upon before specification of a particular type of ladder. All products are manufactured from aluminium to a high strength specification and are available on a supply only or supply/install basis.
In general, selection of a loft ladder type is made on the criteria of height required, storage space in loft, size of opening, handrail requirement and specific application.
Loft ladders are available for loft access and fire escape purposes in domestic, commercial and industrial buildings with loft or escape spaces of varying size and configuration.
The range of loft ladders includes the following variations:
Construction Ladders may be of single section, double (sliding) section or collapsible trellis. Handrails are available on a number of types.
Ladder storage Ladders may be stored away in their out of use position as follows: on the trap door, above and beyond the trap opening, diagonally above the trap or horizontally below the ceiling. Ladders for access to vertical doors are also manufactured.
Folding control mechanisms Operation is by manual instigation - by use of long arm rod or rope and pulley - and completed by a spring balance system or counterbalance weights, or by direct manual operation.
All ladders and mechanisms are manufactured from aluminium alloy to BS 1470.
Trap doors are finished flush with ceiling and are of blockboard or may be glazed. Divided trap doors, where required for the passage of bulky items, have the flap side at side or front.
Stair treads are ribbed and non-slip
Ladders may be from 240 mm to 560 mm wide and up to a ceiling height of 5 m. Stair tread is from 50 mm to 150 mm in depth.
All ladders are in natural aluminium finish.

Products are specifically for intensive use in industrial and commercial buildings.
All loft ladders are low maintenance.
Site surveys or representatives visit free of charge within 60 miles of the company's office.
A complete installation service is offered within 60 miles of the company's works or beyond by special arrangement. Cutting of new opening or extension of original may be undertaken.
