Berry Systems developed and patented the flexible spring steel barrier system in the early 1970s. After successful tests at MIRA it was progressively adopted as the benchmark system for use in UK multi-storey car parks. Over the last 30 years standards and authoritative recommendations have advanced considerably and the solutions offered by Berry Systems have matched and, in many cases, have exceeded these requirements. This is a result of their commitment to continuous product development and a recognition of the responsibilities borne by companies that produce safety related products.

In 1999 Berry Systems became a subsidiary of Hill and Smith Holdings plc and now operates from a 4,235 m² (45,000 ft²) factory strategically situated near Wolverhampton, in the West Midlands. It forms a key part of the Hill & Smith Infrastructure Products Group which comprises a wide range of specialist companies whose joint aim is to be the definitive source for all your infrastructure requirements.
