MCCDT Multi-Compartment Ducting
The MCCDT multi-compartment floor ducting profile utlizes the same tray and lid design as the CDT floor ducting profile with the addition of section dividers, flyover units and
earthing studs.
It enables data, telecom and power wiring to be moved within and across screeded floors whilst maintaining continuous separation. The product is suitable for use with a wide range of socket outlet systems including concealed outlet boxes and pedestal units. It can also be linked to perimeter trunking.
As with other ducting systems in the Contour range, the product concentrates on maximum economy. Installation is particularly simple because the design allows electrical teams total access throughout the whole system until all circuits have been fully tested.
The incorporation of a strong but very workable plywood coverboard makes final fixing simple. Floor finishes can be laid over the complete installation with subsequent access being gained by using draw wires.
It can be manufactured to virtually any size with no minimum order size.
Description
Composition and Manufacture
The multi-compartment floor ducting system is comprised of separate elements. The tray, section dividers, junction and flyovers are formed from 22 gauge hot dipped galvanised mild steel to BS 2989:1982. The earthing stud is M4 x
10mm.
The coverboard is 12mm plywood to BS 1203:1979.
Sizes
All floor ducting lengths 2500mm in one standard width of 335mm and two depths of 35 and 70mm. Special sizes are also available.
Coverboards are 2440m long.
Design Considerations
Earthing
Studs are provided in each length of duct for the purpose of securing the divider, and for the connection of earthing links which should be provided, and be of adequate cross sectional area. Larger earthing studs can be supplied for 3 phase supply.
When using a concealed outlet box the base pan of the unit must be fitted to the duct to ensure that a good electrical contact is made for the purpose of earthing continuity. This can be done with a floor fixing passing through the pan and the duct.
Socket Outlets
The floor ducting is suitable for use with any type or make of socket outlet system. The plywood lid enables sections to be easily cut on site to accomodate outlet units in any position.
Special width and depth sections can be produced for any make of concealed outlet box.
